Tennessee held its 2018 election primaries on August 2. Tennessee Republicans wrapped up the primary campaign for governor, with four Republican candidates vying for the ballot: U.S. House Representative Diane Black, Tennessee House Speaker Beth Harwell, former state economic development commissioner Randy Boyd, and business executive Bill Lee. After the votes were cast, Bill Lee won the primary with 36.7 percent of the vote. The other races in Tennessee were not as contentious. Former Nashville Mayor Karl Dean won the Democratic primary for governor. In the U.S. Senate race for Sen. Bob Corker's seat, former Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen and Representative Marsha Blackburn won the Democratic and Republican primaries, respectively.
