Baker Donelson attorney Jill Steinberg has been recognized with a 2023 Lifetime Achievement Award by the Southeastern Legal Awards, operated by Law.com and Daily Report. Ms. Steinberg was one of only five recipients of this distinguished recognition.
A shareholder in Baker Donelson's Atlanta and Memphis offices, Ms. Steinberg is an experienced litigator who focuses her practice on medical malpractice, nursing home liability, products liability, and personal injury defense. She has tried numerous jury trials and has appeared before the Tennessee Court of Appeals, the Tennessee Supreme Court, and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.
As Baker Donelson's first woman litigation shareholder and first woman practice group leader, Ms. Steinberg has demonstrated a tireless commitment to advancing women in the legal industry. She was also the first chair of the Firm's Women's Initiative. As such, she led the Steering Committee in crafting its initial mission statement: To substantially improve the recruitment and retention of women attorneys, increase the number of women in leadership, provide a more diversified attorney team, and improve career development for women attorneys.
Baker Donelson's Women's Initiative (WI) now includes 12 subcommittees and more than 50 WI Leadership Team members. Ms. Steinberg is still a part of the WI Leadership Team as a committee chair, and she serves as a mentor in the Firm's "Women to Equity" program, where she mentors women attorneys who are seeking to make equity shareholder. She also participates in the Firm's Diversity Initiative as a sponsor and offers herself as a mentor to associates and of counsel in their career development.
Ms. Steinberg is a member of the Tennessee, Georgia, and American Bar Associations, and she is a fellow with the American, Tennessee, and Memphis Bar Foundations, and the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). Additionally, Ms. Steinberg is a member of the American Health Law Association, DRI, International Association of Defense Counsel, and The Association for Women Attorneys. Her accolades include recognition by such publications as Best Lawyers in America®, Mid-South Super Lawyers, Chambers USA, and Lawdragon.
