Baker Donelson Announces Leadership Changes

(Memphis, TN/May 19, 2009) The law firm of Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, PC, has announced changes in its management group. Bruce C. Doeg, who previously served as managing shareholder of the Firm's Nashville office, has been named chair of the Business Department. Scott D. Carey, a shareholder and previously the leader of the Firm's Transportation practice group, has assumed the role of Nashville managing shareholder. David B. Hall, shareholder in the Birmingham office, has been named leader of the Firm's Transportation practice group.

As chair of the Business Department, Mr. Doeg will oversee approximately 170 attorneys and 60 paralegals in the Securities, Mergers & Acquisitions, International, Real Estate, and Intellectual Property practice groups across the Firm's 14 offices. Mr. Doeg, who concentrates his practice in the area of business law, with an emphasis on technology, previously chaired both the Mergers & Acquisitions Group and the Business Technology Group for the Firm. A graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law, he has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America® (Copyright 2008 by Woodward/White, Inc., of Aiken S.C.) in the areas of information technology, technology, corporate and venture capital law. He currently serves on the boards of the Nashville Technology Council, the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce's International Business Council, and the Tennessee Capital Formation Board; he is also an executive committee member and secretary of the board of the Tennessee Technology Development Council.

Mr. Carey, who led the Transportation Group since its formation, began his law career as a runner in Baker Donelson's Nashville office and has worked for the Firm since his graduation from law school, when he became the 13th attorney in the Nashville office. That office now has 87 attorneys. A graduate of Montgomery Bell Academy, Vanderbilt University and the University of Tennessee School of Law, Mr. Carey serves as the General Counsel for the Tennessee Republican Party and as a hearing officer for the Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility. He is active in the Transportation Lawyers Association, the Trucking Industry Defense Association and the Tennessee Trucking Association. Mr. Carey's focus is commercial and tort litigation, with a special emphasis on transportation-related litigation. He holds an AV® peer review rating from Martindale-Hubbell, and he has been recognized by Mid-South Super Lawyers and by The Best Lawyers in America® in the areas of commercial litigation, personal injury litigation and transportation law.

A graduate of the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University, Mr. Hall concentrates his practice in civil litigation with emphasis on personal injury, consumer fraud/warranty, business torts, commercial disputes, transportation, product liability, and insurance litigation. He shares oversight of Baker Donelson's Motor Carrier Regional Emergency Response Team and previously served as chair of Baker Donelson's Motor Carrier Industry Service Team. Mr. Hall is a member of the Transportation Lawyers Association, the Trucking Industry Defense Association and the DRI Transportation and Trucking Committee.
