Baker Donelson Pledges $300,000 to University of Memphis School of Law

(Memphis, TN/April 13, 2007) Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, PC, announces the Firm has pledged a contribution of $300,000 to the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law at the University of Memphis to support the law school's relocation to the historic United States Customs House and Post Office facility in downtown Memphis. The $300,000 contribution will include donations pledged by the Firm, a friend of the Firm and Baker Donelson attorneys who are University of Memphis alumni. As an acknowledgement of the Firm's early and significant commitment to the project, the new building will include the Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz classroom in honor of Lewis R. Donelson III, who co-founded the Firm and is a shareholder in its Memphis office.

"Relocating the law school near the legal center of the city will allow the students greater access to legal professionals and will help reinforce their understanding of our legal system," said Jerry Stauffer, President and Chief Operating Officer of Baker Donelson and a 1974 graduate of the University of Memphis School of Law. "Baker Donelson is proud to support a project which serves to strengthen our profession by helping to ensure that future University of Memphis law students have the benefit of an education in a first-rate facility."
