(New Orleans, LA/October 22, 2012) Jon F. "Chip" Leyens Jr. of Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, PC has been appointed to a one-year term as Chair of the Ground Leasing Committee of the American Bar Association (ABA) Section of Real Property, Trust and Estate Law. He has also been appointed to serve as a member of the section's Continuing Legal Education (CLE) and Community Outreach standing committees.
The Ground Leasing Committee produces programs, roundtables and educational materials to assist lawyers in improving their negotiation and drafting skills in the area of ground leasing of real property. The Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Committee makes decisions about CLE programming for the section, and the Community Outreach Committee sponsors CLE programs for minority lawyers across the U.S.
Mr. Leyens, who is a shareholder in Baker Donelson's New Orleans office, focuses his practice on commercial real estate leasing and development, and business financing. A Fellow of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, Mr. Leyens has been recognized as a leading attorney in the area of real estate law by The Best Lawyers in America® since 2007, Chambers USA since 2006 and Louisiana Super Lawyers since 2008. He is a former member of the Board of Zoning Adjustments of the City of New Orleans.
