(Johnson City, TN/November 29, 2012) Christie M. Hayes of Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, PC, has been recognized as one of Tri-Cities Business Journal's "Top 40 Under Forty," a list recognizing successful business and community leaders in Tri-Cities area.
Ms. Hayes, an associate in the Johnson City office of Baker Donelson, is a member of the Firm's labor and employment department, where she has experience in the area of workers' compensation issues and in counseling clients on a multitude of federal and state employment laws, including ADA and FMLA. Ms. Hayes also represents businesses in defense of personal injury claims. She is a frequent speaker at legal seminars in the Tri-Cities area designed to keep employers up to date on the changes and updates to labor and employment laws.
A 2001 graduate of Vanderbilt University and a 2004 graduate of the Pennsylvania State University Dickinson School of Law, Ms. Hayes assists her local community through the Legal Aid of East Tennessee (LAET), where she has been an Honor Roll Recipient. In 2011, Ms. Hayes performed over 75 hours of pro bono work, which included handling matters such as conservatorships, adoptions and civil cases. Ms. Hayes was named Baker Donelson's 2011 Johnson City Pro Bono Attorney of the Year, and the LAET's 2011 Pro Bono Attorney of the Year. She was also recognized by the LAET for donating the most pro bono hours in the region.
