Darwin Hindman Talks with Commercial Appeal about Considerations in Awarding Government Construction Contracts

When construction officials recently submitted their proposal to act as overseer of a new high school, the companies went with a high school yearbook-look in a creative approach that caught the attention of school officials.

In this Commercial Appeal article, Darwin Hindman, the head of Baker Donelson's government contracts practice, comments on the proposal noting that, though Tennessee law allows some government contracts to be awarded on price alone, the law tells governments to treat construction contracts differently.

"They're not only allowed to, but they're required to consider more than just price when they make their decision," Mr. Hindman said.
