Mr. Tropper has several years of experience supporting major automobile manufacturers in discovery and motion practice relating to the defense of customer claims for breach of warranty (lemon law) in California and elsewhere.

He also has extensive experience in counseling, licensing, and litigation involving the protection of clients' copyrights, trademarks, patents, and trade secrets.

  • Manages a team of approximately 40 attorneys and paralegals working with local counsel in California to draft discovery, motion, pretrial, and post-judgment correspondence and pleadings in the defense of several thousand lemon law cases, with appropriate use of artificial intelligence tools, on behalf of a major U.S. automobile manufacturer, including strategic guidance on achieving improved results at lower cost per case.

  • Helped design and implement automated case management systems for multiple automobile manufacturers to increase efficiency and reliability in the defense of automobile warranty claims and to provide enhanced data for more effective oversight of local litigation counsel.

  • Leads teams of attorneys and support personnel who provide drafting and management support for major European and Japanese automobile manufacturers to better coordinate the activities of local litigation counsel.

  • Designed and implemented strategies for establishing protectable trademark and trade dress rights in marks requiring secondary meaning.

  • Coordinated, organized, and contributed to the drafting of an amicus brief to the U.S. Supreme Court on behalf of a successful effort to preserve an appropriate balance between independence and state control of public charter schools.

  • Defended a judgment, including a bill of peace, in litigation with a vexatious litigant on appeal to the Supreme Court of Georgia.

  • Lead counsel in the U.S. Supreme Court on the successful opposition to a petition for review in a trademark appeal involving complex sovereign immunity issues.

  • Advised multiple clients in responding to jurisdictional questions posed by the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.

  • Coordinating the appellate strategy of a religious institution involved in a multifront dispute with splinter sects.
