(Memphis, TN /April 20, 2010) Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, PC, has added two experienced labor and employment attorneys in its Memphis office: Jonathan C. Hancock and Whitney M. Harmon.
Mr. Hancock, who has joined as shareholder, represents employers and management clients regarding all aspects of employment law, including litigation in state and federal courts. Mr. Hancock regularly consults with employers regarding employee counseling and termination, proactive employee training, and the handling of employee complaints and claims. He also represents clients in complex litigation matters, including class actions, federal compliance actions, municipal and governmental defense cases, and other civil litigation matters. Recognized by Mid-South Super Lawyers as a "Rising Star" in Labor and Employment in 2008 and 2009, Mr. Hancock is a frequent speaker and writer on employment and civil litigation topics. He is Legislative Chair and Legislative Director for both the Memphis and Tennessee chapters of the Society for Human Resource Management and is a member of the board of directors for Memphis Area Legal Services.
Ms. Harmon, who has joined as an associate, concentrates her practice in employment law, with an emphasis on the defense of management in litigation and matters relating to the Fair Labor Standards Act and Family Medical Leave Act. She has experience drafting employee handbooks and policy manuals, training supervisors and managers on the implementation of these policies, and providing guidance and advice on current employment-related legislation and agency initiatives. Ms. Harmon is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management and the Association for Women Attorneys, and serves on the board of Literacy Mid-South.
