(Atlanta, GA / July 29, 2009) Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, PC, is pleased to announce that Linda A. Klein will be honored with the Edmund S. Muskie Pro Bono Award from the Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section (TIPS) of the American Bar Association. The award recognizes TIPS members who have the attributes embodied by the late Senator Muskie of Maine - his dedication to justice for all citizens, public service, and his role as a lawyer and distinguished leader of TIPS. Ms. Klein, managing shareholder of the firm’s Georgia office and a member of the firm’s board of directors, will be presented with the award during TIPS’ Annual Leadership Dinner in Chicago on August 2, 2009.
Ms. Klein focuses her practice in business dispute resolution, including contract law, construction law, fidelity and surety law, employment law, and professional liability. In 1997, she became the first woman to serve as president of the State Bar of Georgia. She has held numerous leadership roles in the national legal arena as well as in the Atlanta community. Currently she is president of Southface Energy Institute and sits on the boards of Neighbor to Family and the Board of Directors Network.
Well respected in the Georgia legal community by her peers, Ms. Klein was named as one of the state’s “Legal Elite” by Georgia Trend magazine and has been listed among Georgia Super Lawyers as one of the “Top 50 Women Lawyers in Georgia” annually since 2004. She is also listed in Chambers USA and Best Lawyers. In 2004, she was honored with the prestigious Margaret Brent Award. Earlier this year, she received the Randolph Thrower Lifetime Achievement Award from the State Bar of Georgia for her achievements in promoting diversity in the legal profession. In May, Ms. Klein was inducted into the YWCA’s Academy of Women Achievers.
