(Nashville, TN / August 22, 2014) Samuel L. Felker of Baker Donelson has been elected chair of the Metropolitan Board of Health.
The role of the Metropolitan Board of Health is to oversee the Metro Health Department and administer and control public health for the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County.

"Our programs, which focus on the health and well-being of our community, include vaccinations, food safety, emergency preparedness, air quality, animal control, healthy and active living, STD education and prevention, and administering the Ryan White Act funding for HIV prevention and treatment, just to name a few."
A shareholder in the Firm's Nashville office, Mr. Felker is a member of Baker Donelson's Product Liability and Mass Tort Group. For more than 30 years, he has focused his litigation practice on the defense of product liability, food safety, mass torts and commercial cases. In pharmaceutical and medical device litigation, Mr. Felker has served as national, regional and local counsel in defending manufacturers throughout the United States. He has also represented clients in significant commercial litigation involving insurance coverage, securities fraud, breach of contract, theft of trade secrets, defamation and intellectual property.
A graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law, for many years Mr. Felker has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America in the practice areas of products liability, mass tort litigation/class actions, personal injury and commercial litigation, and by Mid-South Super Lawyers, Benchmark Litigation "Local Litigation Stars" and Lawdragon 3000 "Leading Lawyers of America." He has served in leadership positions in the Nashville, Tennessee and American Bar Associations, and he is a member of the Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel.
Mr. Felker has served on the Metropolitan Board of Health for the past six years. He is also active in numerous other community organizations, including the Human Rights Campaign, Tennessee Equality Project, Stonewall Bar Association, the Nashville LGBT Chamber of Commerce and Nashville Cares.
