1. In one sentence, describe your practice.
I represent long term care and senior housing providers in acquisitions, sales and financing transactions, as well as related business and operations matters.
2. What is the best business development advice you've ever received?
Provide the highest quality service possible, develop strong relationships with your clients, and listen for opportunities to assist them with other matters.
3. What is the most interesting client project you've worked on?
As in-house counsel, the negotiation and completion of a successful total restructuring of a large health care company, including corporate organizational restructure, all REIT leases and all financing arrangements.
4. Who has been your most influential professional mentor?
I have two. One was a partner in a NYC law firm who saw my potential and trained me as a paralegal not long after I graduated college. His intelligence and dedication to the law inspired me to become a lawyer. The other is the CEO of the health care company at which I was the general counsel for 18 years. He taught me to not just be a lawyer, but to integrate business operations knowledge and skills to provide sound business and legal counsel.
5. If you could have dinner with any person, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
My mother. We were very close, but after she passed in 2014, I realized there was still so much I'd like to know about and learn from her. It would be wonderful to have an opportunity to talk to her again.
6. Where is your favorite place to visit or travel?
Anywhere I haven't been yet. We had a trip to Italy planned, but it was canceled when the pandemic hit. I'm hoping to reschedule that sometime in the near future.
7. What do you like to do in your spare time?
Spend time with my husband, daughter, two dogs and one cat. My daughter will be in college soon, so I treasure every family moment!
8. If you were not a lawyer, what would you be?
I’d love to be an author.
9. What is one thing that most people don't know about you?
My undergraduate degree is in special education, and I taught kindergarten right after I graduated.
