Baker Donelson Adds Speakers for Cybercon 2018

Commanding General of U.S. Army Cyber Command and General Counsel for the Georgia Secretary of State Join Speaker Lineup

Baker Donelson is pleased to announce the addition of Lt. Gen. Stephen G. Fogarty, Commanding General, U.S. Army Cyber Command, and Ryan Germany, general counsel for the Georgia Secretary of State, to its lineup of speakers for Cybercon 2018. This signature event of Atlanta Cyber Week, which will be held on October 9, 2018, at the Georgia Tech Global Learning Center, will bring together business, academic and government leaders to discuss the continuing evolution of the security landscape, emphasizing cybersecurity as a strategic enterprise business risk.

Lt. Gen. Fogarty and Mr. Germany will participate in a panel discussion on the topic, "How Ready Are You? Improving Your Cyber Readiness and Resilience." The panel – which also includes Becky Blalock, managing partner at Advisory Capital; Bob Varnadoe, Chief Information Security Officer for NCR Corporation; and Kevin Walsh, supervisor of the United States Secret Service's Electronic Crimes Task Force in Atlanta – will discuss the current state of regulatory and compliance challenges and how attendees can help each part of their organization better understand their role in achieving and maintaining overall cyber readiness and resilience.

Lt. Gen. Fogarty and Mr. Germany join an agenda that also includes keynote speaker Jamil Farshchi, Chief Information Security Officer of Equifax, who will be speaking on the topic, "Fortifying Security Like A Post-Breach CISO."

Other sessions during Cybercon 2018 will focus on topics such as identifying and addressing cyber risk in M&A deals, educating the C-suite and board members about cyber business risk and Fintech innovation versus security.

Cybercon 2018 will also feature an interactive digital experience session designed to simulate a complex cyber breach occurring in real time. Session participants will experience the challenge of making good decisions under time pressure with incomplete facts. As a result, participants will gain a deeper understanding of why a proactive approach to cybersecurity is essential and how they can best secure their companies and identify what areas need improvement.

"Cybersecurity is often viewed as an IT problem, when in reality it is a strategic enterprise business risk," said Justin Daniels, founder of Atlanta Cyber Week and shareholder of Baker Donelson. "People want to do business with organizations that they trust, and cybersecurity is key to establishing and maintaining that trust. As leaders who are responsible for cybersecurity surrounding our nation's defense networks and the elections in our state, Lt. Gen. Fogarty and Mr. Germany bring unique insight and experience to the discussion of cyber readiness. We're confident that they, along with Jamil Farshchi and the numerous other speakers participating in Cybercon 2018, will offer perspectives to help CISOs, security professionals, the C-suite, board members and business owners make intelligent decisions that fully consider cyber issues as integral to the success of their organizations."
