Baker Donelson Attorneys Earn Information Privacy Certification

Originally launched in 2004 as the first professional certification ever offered in information privacy, the CIPP has become the preeminent credential in the field. A CIPP credential means the recipient has gained a foundational understanding of privacy and data protection law and practice, and has knowledge of jurisdictional laws, regulations and enforcement models. Ms. Rush and Mr. White both hold the CIPP/US concentration, which focuses on the U.S. private sector.

Ms. Rush, a shareholder in Baker Donelson's Baton Rouge office, is a member of the Firm's Health Law Group and the Data Protection, Privacy and Cybersecurity Team. She routinely advises health care clients on state and federal laws related to privacy, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and has assisted clients in the development of policies and procedures for compliance with HIPAA and state privacy laws. A graduate of the Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center, Ms. Rush is a frequent speaker and author on the topic of health care reform as it relates to insurers and health plans and is a member of the Baton Rouge and Louisiana State Bar Associations.

Mr. White, an associate in Baker Donelson's Memphis office, defends national and regional securities firms and their registered representatives in a wide range of matters including customer-initiated arbitrations and litigation, as well as in enforcement proceedings and investigations by the SEC, self-regulatory and compliance matters, including cybersecurity and data privacy-related issues. He is a member of the Firm's Data Protection, Privacy and Cybersecurity Team and provides counsel on a wide range of privacy/security matters, including all facets of electronic information management, cyber liability, risk management, data issues and data breaches.
