Comments Solicited on New Telemedicine Accreditation Standards

On January 25, 2018, the ClearHealth Quality InstituteTM (CHQI) announced the release of draft standards within CHQI's Telemedicine Accreditation Program. The standards are intended to assess the quality and effectiveness of telemedicine programs offered within a variety of telemedicine modalities, including direct to consumer offerings. The standard development process included input from various stakeholders for the purpose of maximizing on experience related to current best practices within the emerging telemedicine delivery systems and platforms.

These standards are the result of a strategic partnership between the CHQI and the American Telemedicine Association (ATA) formed for the purpose of CHQI to take over and update ATA's accreditation program which commenced in 2015.

CHQI wants the public's feedback and is soliciting comment through February 9, 2018. Telemedicine industry members and other stakeholders should take time to review and provide feedback before this fast approaching deadline.

If you have any questions regarding the new draft telemedicine accreditation standards, or want to discuss submitting comments, please reach out to any member of the Baker Ober Health Law Group.
