Leo Bearman was a king among men and his loss is a stunning blow. We will all miss his leadership and commitment to our shared community.
It has been an honor for Susan G. Komen for the Cure – Memphis to be the recipient for 20 years of Leo's largesse in creating and continuing to spearhead the Barrister's Breakfast through 2019. He knew how important it was for the legal community to take a stand of support in the fight against breast cancer in the Mid-South, and he led the charge, year after year, without fail.
Because Leo made the breakfast important, the entire legal community did, too. Every year, on the first Friday in October, he called us all together, shared why we were gathered and reignited our spirit of commitment to save lives in our community. Leo's steadfastness and dedication to Komen Memphis for 20 years is astounding.
His support made the breakfast a resounding success every year and resulted in over $225,000 raised for health care and education in Memphis.
That is more than remarkable, it is amazing. And amazing he was. Brilliant and kind, Leo made our world a better place and will not be forgotten.
