Conner Whitten has significant experience defending clients in matters involving alleged environmental contamination, stormwater and wastewater issues. He regularly counsels clients on environmental and regulatory compliance, including advising on permitting, licensing, and risk mitigation under federal and state environmental and energy laws.

Mr. Whitten also counsels clients on complex commercial disputes, class action lawsuits, and government investigations and enforcement actions, including private suits and investigations under the Packers and Stockyards Act.

Prior to joining Baker Donelson, Mr. Whitten worked as a business law fellow in the regulatory division of Entergy Mississippi, where he gained firsthand experience in energy regulation, environmental compliance, and utility regulatory proceedings within the energy sector. He was also a legal extern for the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Mississippi, and he interned with the Mississippi Public Service Commission.

  • Defended a manufacturer against allegations of water contamination and property damage, including regulatory exposure involving stormwater runoff.

  • Advised a financial institution on federal and state environmental, regulatory, and energy compliance, including compliance with Federal Aviation Administration rules and regulations, for the development of a multimillion-dollar solar and energy project.

  • Advised a commercial developer on liability and damages resulting from alleged wastewater contamination and destruction of commercial property.

  • Defended insurance company against failure to defend against claims related to alleged environmental contamination that resulted in favorable verdict.

  • Successfully represented a poultry processor in a multi-defendant class action involving a putative nationwide class of broiler growers, resolving alleged violations of antitrust laws and the Packers and Stockyards Act based on claims that the industry suppressed grower compensation through information sharing and alleged no-poach or non-solicitation agreements.

  • Successfully represented a poultry processor in a multi-defendant class action involving against a putative nationwide class of hourly and salaried poultry workers, resolving claims under antitrust laws that the industry suppressed worker compensation and benefits through information sharing practices.

  • Successfully briefed and defended a judgment in favor of a financial institution, affirmed on appeal by the Supreme Court of Mississippi.
