Baker Donelson has added Dr. Michael Klipstein, former Director of International Cybersecurity Policy for the National Security Council, as a senior public policy advisor in the Government Relations and Public Policy Group in the Firm's Washington, D.C., office.
Dr. Klipstein is an executive cyberspace leader and network engineer with 15 years of strategic and operational experience in the cybersecurity and national security landscapes, focusing on risk management. A recognized technology and policy professional, he works with senior government and C-suite leaders, IT, and management teams across organizations and diverse sectors to direct, coordinate, and develop policy; identify strategic opportunities; oversee projects; and manage and communicate risks.
"As a strategic advisor, Michael brings an incredibly knowledgeable perspective on policy issues related to space, maritime, and cyberspace, as well as cybersecurity and U.S. Army programs and policies," said Sheila P. Prior to joining Baker Donelson, Dr. Klipstein served in the U.S. Army, where he obtained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and received his Ph.D. from the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School. He later served as the Director of International Cybersecurity Policy for the National Security Council. Dr. Klipstein, who holds a Master of Science degree in telecommunications from the University of Maryland, is a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) and a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
Dr. Klipstein is a member of the Digital Directors Network and serves as a non-resident fellow at the Krulak Center for Innovation and Creativity and the Saltzman Institute of War and Peace Studies.
