Baker Donelson has named Layna Cook Rush, CIPP/US, CIPP/C, as chair of the Firm's Data Incident Response Team. Ms. Rush is a U.S. and Canadian Certified Information Privacy Professional and member of the Firm's Data Protection, Privacy and Cybersecurity group.
A shareholder in Baker Donelson's Louisiana offices, Ms. Rush has been a valued member of the Data Incident Response Team since its inception. She routinely counsels clients on the investigation of, and response to, potential privacy and security breaches and represents clients in investigations by the Office for Civil Rights, State Attorneys General and Insurance Departments and in litigation involving privacy challenges. Ms. Rush also advises clients on state and federal laws related to privacy and security of personal information, including HIPAA, Part 2 Substance Abuse laws, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, the CAN-SPAM Act and state laws related to privacy protections and breach notification requirements. She has assisted clients in the development of policies and procedures for compliance with HIPAA and state and federal laws related to privacy and security.
