The national law firm of Baker Donelson has added Jay Saxon as of counsel in its Birmingham office, growing the Firm's Complex Litigation and Class Actions Group.
A litigator with a wealth of experience guiding his clients through various complex litigation matters, including hospitality, franchise, product liability, class actions, and commercial litigation, Mr. Saxon has routinely obtained dismissal or summary judgment in complex cases. He is experienced in handling both corporate transactions and matters necessitating litigation, and he has won numerous oral arguments in state circuit court, federal district court, and before the Eleventh Circuit.
"Jay's addition serves as another testament to the commitment of our Firm to continue growing and adding talented legal professionals to provide our clients with unparalleled services," said Patton Hahn, managing shareholder of the Birmingham office. "Jay's commitment to client service, coupled with his diverse government, international, and private practice experience, make him an outstanding asset for both our clients and our colleagues, and we're thrilled to have him."
Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Saxon practiced at a large, international firm in New York City and served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Northern District of Alabama in the Civil Division. He also served as a plaintiffs' attorney in private practice, which provided experience that he continues to utilize in his present, defense-focused practice.
Mr. Saxon received his B.A. from Princeton University, his M.A. from Central European University (with merit), and he is a cum laude graduate of the University of Alabama School of Law. He is an Alumni Fellow of the University of Alabama Blackburn Institute, and in 2022, he was a member of the Alabama State Bar Leadership Forum, Class 16.
