Please join Baker Donelson Government Relations and Public Policy Group Chair Sheila P. Burke for the webcast, "The Future of the Affordable Care Act: What Happens Next?" on Wednesday, September 27 at 12:00 p.m. ET. This webcast is part of The Forum series from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and is presented jointly with Reuters.
The future of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) is far from certain. A group of Republicans unveiled recently the Graham-Cassidy bill, which represents the latest attempt by the GOP to repeal the ACA. For their part, Democrats organized a news conference to announce a single-payer health care proposal. As the parties and the public grapple with these latest plans, another hurdle for the ACA looms. With open enrollment beginning on November 1, questions remain about the stability of the ACA insurance exchange marketplace, particularly around the fate of cost-sharing subsidies and other factors that affect enrollment, affordability and access to varied plans. This Forum will bring together health and public policy experts from across diverse perspectives to look at what’s next for the Affordable Care Act. What can Americans expect and where does health care reform go from here?
The panel will be moderated by Caroline Humer, correspondent from Reuters, and Ms. Burke will be joined by a panel of policy experts from around the country:
- Robert Blendon, Professor of Health Policy and Political Analysis, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and Harvard Kennedy School
- Lanhee Chen, Research Fellow, Hoover Institution, and Director of Domestic Policy Studies and Lecturer in the Public Policy Program, Stanford University
- John McDonough, Professor of the Practice of Public Health, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health
- Robert Moffit, Senior Fellow, The Heritage Foundation’s Center for Health Policy Studies
