Edward "Ed" D. Lanquist Jr. and Scott M. Douglass have joined Baker Donelson's Intellectual Property Group as shareholders in the Nashville and Memphis offices, respectively.

Mr. Lanquist focuses his practice on patent, trademark, and copyright litigation, as well as intellectual property counseling, trademark prosecution, and technology law. With more than three decades of IP law experience, he has prosecuted over 150 patent applications and over 1,400 trademark registration applications.
Mr. Lanquist is very active in the Nashville legal community. He currently serves as vice president of the Tennessee Bar Association (TBA) and will be the TBA's president-elect in 2023 and president in 2024. He is a past president of the Nashville Bar Association and the Tennessee Intellectual Property Association.
A graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Law, Mr. Lanquist has earned numerous professional recognitions, including being ranked by Chambers USA as a Band 1 intellectual property attorney in Tennessee since 2019 and recognized by Best Lawyers® as its Nashville "Lawyer of the Year" in multiple areas of IP law for eight of the last ten years.
Mr. Douglass concentrates his practice in the areas of trademarks, copyrights, and data privacy. He litigates trademark, trade dress, and copyright claims in federal courts. He also helps clients maximize the value of their intellectual property through licensing, and advises clients on the adoption, protection, and registration of brands and product launches.
Mr. Douglass is a member of the Licensing Executives Society, American Intellectual Property Law Association, Copyright Society of the South, and International Trademark Association. A graduate of the Wake Forest University School of Law, he has been included in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in America™ since 2021 and has been named to Mid-South Super Lawyers "Rising Stars" since 2018.
