Emmit advises clients on bankruptcy, insolvency, and other workout matters. Additionally, he represents individuals and businesses in complex commercial litigation matters.

Emmit has extensive experience in commercial and product liability cases, including complex, multiparty litigation. He regularly manages a wide range of clients in matters involving multimillion-dollar amounts in controversy. Emmit also has experience in alternative dispute resolution, including mediation, arbitration, and multiparty settlement negotiations.

After law school, Emmit served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Robert E. Cahill Jr. of the Circuit Court for Baltimore County. Since completing his clerkship, he has practiced with several prominent civil defense firms in the Baltimore area and joined Baker Donelson from an Am Law 100 law firm.

  • Served as third chair for a defense verdict in a $2.3 million product liability case and as second chair in a $1 million-plus breach of contract bench trial.

  • Oversaw the drafting of dispositive motions in a complex federal qui tam matter, resulting in a partial summary judgment ruling valued at $22 million for the client.

  • Served as lead local counsel for an international manufacturer in a complex product exposure matter.

  • Argued substantive and dispositive motions in Maryland state courts.
