Professional Biography


Freeman Foster resides in Baker Donelson's Memphis office and is a member of the Health Care Litigation Group. He assists clients in a variety of areas including health care, municipal law, employment law, torts, and civil rights defense.

Prior to joining Baker Donelson, Mr. Foster served as a senior assistant city attorney for the City of Memphis representing the city in state and federal litigation.  In 2013, Mr. Foster was appointed by the Tennessee Supreme Court to serve on the Tennessee Board of Law Examiners' Investigating Committee and in 2015, he was recognized by the Tennessee Supreme Court as an Attorney for Justice.

  • Successfully defended a municipality and won a summary judgment motion on all claims brought by an employee who alleged race and gender discrimination based on failure to promote in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The ruling was affirmed by the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
