Gregory E. Bodin has been named the managing shareholder of Baker Donelson's Baton Rouge office.
While serving as office managing shareholder, Mr. Bodin will maintain his legal practice, which focuses on a wide range of civil litigation matters. He assumes the role from Phyllis G. Cancienne, who has served as managing shareholder since 2015. Ms. Cancienne will return to a full-time focus on her employment litigation practice.
In 35 years of practice, Mr. Bodin has handled a large variety of commercial litigation and complex and creative settlements of cases involving insurance disputes in multiple lines of coverages; defense of employer liability, workers' compensation, casualty, products liability, and occupational disease cases; all forms of business-related litigation arising out of commercial disputes in state and federal courts; fiduciary litigation involving trusts, successions, and interdiction proceedings; and bid protests and licensing disputes, inclusive of appearing in every appellate court in Louisiana.
Mr. Bodin is a past president of the Baton Rouge Bar Association. A 1988 graduate of the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University, he served for almost 20 years as an adjunct faculty member at the LSU Law School, where he taught Legal Negotiations & Professionalism. He is recognized in The Best Lawyers in America®, and he has been selected to the Louisiana Super Lawyers list. Mr. Bodin is an active leader and volunteer at the Sacred Heart of Jesus School in Baton Rouge.
