Mr. Daley's practice focuses on complex civil litigation in federal and state courts.
Mr. Daley has handled a wide variety of litigation matters including trials involving construction and condominium disputes, admiralty matters, financial institution litigation, products liability and creditors' rights cases.
In addition, Mr. Daley represents clients in the transportation industry and is a member of the Firm's 24 Hour Motor Carrier Emergency Response Team, a group of attorneys dedicated to providing rapid post-accident intervention and investigation throughout the Firm's footprint and beyond, whenever and wherever clients need us.
Mr. Daley assists clients in the transportation industry in the assessment of potential issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic including:
- Potential closures and limitations at the Port of Baltimore
- Advice on vessel compliance regarding cleaning procedures and other regulatory requirements
- Maintenance and Cure obligations

- Recently obtained summary judgment on behalf of a national mortgage/lending company.
- Obtained dismissal on behalf of several foreign vessel interests based on a forum selection clause, which was upheld by the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
- Obtained a favorable settlement on behalf of a broadcasting company in a dispute over the methods used to determine broadcast ratings.
- Obtained numerous confessed judgments on behalf of national and local financial institutions.
- Obtained dismissal of numerous claims on behalf of major cruise lines.
- Represented a Japanese ship owner in the collection of money owed from a coal exporter. Secured full payment by arranging for the attachment of the exporter's coal shipment.
Mr. Daley also serves as the local correspondent for numerous International P&I Clubs and provides 24/7 casualty response services on their behalf. He can often be found at the Port of Baltimore conducting investigations and working to resolve various obstacles inherent in the world of international shipping as well as providing pivotal on-site legal advice.
Mr. Daley's practice allows him to spend a significant amount of time in both state and federal courts, which is instrumental in keeping him current on changes to the Maryland and federal civil and admiralty rules. He is frequently confronted with complicated conflicts of law and choice of law issues, national and international arbitration clauses, forum selection and jurisdictional disputes. He has achieved numerous dismissals and favorable settlements before the client is ever exposed to substantial discovery costs and fees associated with depositions, written discovery and document production.
Mr. Daley has been honored by Maryland Super Lawyers, which named him a Maryland Rising Star in its 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 editions. He is a member of the bar in both Maryland and the District of Columbia.
