Professional Biography


Mariame is an associate who focuses her practice on labor and employment matters, including wage and hour, statutory leave rights, and employee classification. She advises and reviews employee handbooks to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws. Mariame regularly conducts internal investigations on claims of sexual harassment, discrimination, and hostile work environment, among other matters.

Mariame has represented employers in a wide array of litigation in federal and state courts and before administrative agencies, including claims brought under Title VII, the ADEA, the ADA, and various other state and federal statutes. She has also conducted national labor and unionization debriefs and prepared legal recommendations to clients.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Mariame externed under an administrative judge at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), where she gained insight into the investigation and hearings processes in such cases. In addition, she interned for a Fortune 500 company, where she developed an understanding of the needs of clients and in-house counsel from their points of view.

  • Represented an insurance provider client in lawsuits spanning multiple states for claims of FLSA misclassification and wage and hour violations involving over 30 named and opt-in plaintiffs. Conducted deposition preparation, significant discovery, and initial motions practice.

  • Conducted national labor and unionization debriefs for a multinational technology company to provide legal recommendations.

  • Assisted in the drafting of a summary judgment motion which was granted resulting in favorable outcome for a client in a Title VII, Section 1981, and ADA case which spanned several years, involved three separate agency charges, eight claimed protected activities, 15 promotion decisions, and at least eight other alleged adverse actions.

  • Represented a large franchisee operator client in defending agency charges of discrimination, all of which resulted in successful and minimal settlement or the issuance of a finding from the agency that there was no discrimination.

  • Investigated a university client's Human Resources department, which resulted in the successful rehabilitation of the department.

  • Represented a large franchisee operator client with an arbitration matter involving claims of FLSA misclassification brought by an executive employee. Conducted deposition preparation, discovery, and hearing preparation.

  • Successfully sealed criminal records for a pro bono client who had previously been denied their request to seal through discussions with the Assistant Solicitor General.
