Stefanie's clients seek her counsel regarding a wide variety of regulatory and compliance matters that are integral to their efforts to operate and grow effectively. She counsels clients nationwide in matters involving federal and state regulations, licensing, survey and certification, and regulatory compliance. She also enables her clients to grow by guiding them through the processes of obtaining regulatory approvals for expansion, changes in ownership, and establishing new facilities. Stefanie advises clients in their efforts to comply with the myriad of regulations that govern providers, conducts comprehensive compliance plan effectiveness reviews to identify opportunities for improvement, and counsels clients in their responses to enforcement agencies. Her in-depth understanding of the federal rulemaking process benefits her clients as she guides them as they seek to understand, comply with, and influence regulations.
Stefanie began her legal career as a law clerk for the Honorable Brian A. Jackson, Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana. While attending American University's Washington School of Law, she also served as a judicial intern for both the Honorable Richard W. Roberts, Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, and the Honorable Gerald Bruce Lee of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. During law school, Stefanie also served as a law clerk at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Counsel to the Inspector General.
Prior to beginning her legal career, Stefanie held several positions in health policy and advocacy, including Director of Government Relations at the District of Columbia Hospital Association and Health Policy Analyst for the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She also earned a master's degree in Public Health from Tulane University's School of Public Health & Tropical Medicine.
